South Florida Amateur Golf Tour
1. What is the South Florida Amateur Golf Tour?
The South Florida Amateur Golf Tour (SFLAGT) is a amateur golf tour that hosts one day, 18 hole events at some of South Florida’s best courses. The SFLAGT was designed to provide a local, convenient and affordable amateur circuit to cater to the many avid golfers we have in South Florida. The tour will operate its Championship division for the area’s finest amateurs; in addition the tour will have a PLAYERS and EAGLE Division to allow for amateurs of a similar handicap to compete against each other.
2. Do I need to be a member?
There are NO membership fees on the SFLAGT. Once you enter an event, or sign up with your email, you are considered a member for the season.
3. What is the format for each event?
Each event will be a one day, 18 hole stroke play event. The Tour will sometimes host Stableford format events. All play will be scored within the 3 Flighted divisions, and every stroke play event is Gross only.
4. What are the different flights within the SFLAGT?
The SFLAGT will have its Championship division for players whose handicap is 4.0 or less. The Players Division is for handicaps from 4.1-8.0, the Eagle Division is for handicaps from 8.1-13.0. Any player who wins three events within a calendar year is subject to automatic 'In Season Promotion', where they will move up a division.
5. Can I play in the Championship division if my handicap is above 4.0?
On a case by case basis the SFLAGT will allow players whose handicap falls above 4.0 to compete in the Championship division as it considered OPEN. The player must notify the SFLAGT of their intention to compete in the Championship division.
6. What is the cost to play?
Each round will vary in cost, but the goal of the SFLAGT is to generally keep the cost per event between $100-115. Various prizes will be given out, depending on the field size in each event.
Are Rangefinders Allowed?
7. Where are the events being held?
The SFAGT will host events throughout South Florida, primarily in the Broward County area, with some events being played in or around Miami or WPB. Please see the SFLAGT schedule to learn more; Core host courses include TPC Eagle Trace, Crandon Park Golf Club, Grande Oaks Golf Club, Trump National Doral, Broken Sound CC, Lago Mar Country Club and more.
8. What does the SFAGT need to verify my handicap?
The SFLAGT needs your USGA handicap index, and/or a handicap verified by a Club professional. We also will allow web based services that are used to calculate a handocap, provided the player includes that information in their registration. Once a player enters an event, the SFLAGT will monitor event scoring in the event any flight changes become necessary.
The tour reserves the right to alter one’s handicap index or Flight status based on results in SFLAGT events.
9. How do I enter an event?
Visit sfamtour.com. You MUST Complete TWO steps in order to enter the event.
First, you must register online by entering all your pertinent information, then press 'Submit Form'.
Next, select 'PAY NOW' to proceed to the payment area, whereby you can pay with any major CC.
Any questions, you can always call Tour Director TJ Shuart @ 954.552.7646 for assistance or manual entrance into the event.
10. When are the entry deadlines?
The entry deadline will be on the Wednesday night (3 days Prior) of every tournament week.
11. How do I find my tee time?
Tee Times will be emailed to tournament contestants prior to the start of each event AND always be listed on the website. Starting times generally will be prepared immediately after the deadline for entry. The SFLAGT will list the approximate tee times on the website in advance of the event. Players will be emailed TEE TIMES on FRIDAY, one day prior to the event, no later than 12 noon.
I.e- The Lago Classic Tee times between 10:00-11:10
What if an event is impacted by weather?
When weather impacts the completion of an event, the SFLAGT will do what is fair. This means it is possible there will be a 9 hole event. Entry fees will generally not be refunded, but if only a couple holes are played, the SFLAGT will work with the Club to provide a rain check or alternate option for the players. The SFLAGT will do everything in its power to complete an event on the same day. Please note that the Summer Series schedule is held during rainy season and as such these one day events are subject to being altered by inclement weather.
12. What If I have to withdraw from an event?
Any player who withdraws prior to the entry deadline date will receive a refund, minus administrative fees. A player who withdraws after the deadline date is subject to forfeiture of their entry fee, unless an alternate player can fill the space. The SFLAGT is very understanding and will make every effort to work with players who must withdraw from an event. Players who do withdraw after the deadline are subject to forfeiture of their entry fee.

"Growing Competitive Amateur Golf in South Florida"
Fort Lauderdale, FL
Tour Director: TJ Shuart
"The SFLAGT is fun. It's competitive golf, with a bunch of good guys, at a great rotation of courses! If you want to sharpen your game, and see how good you can get, you HAVE to play competitive golf, it's why I make sure I play as many of these as I can. The SFLAGT is the best local tournament practice you can get, in a relaxed friendly environment."
Rob Bryans, Miami Beach
"The tournaments are very well run, the competition is excellent and we are competing on the best courses in the area. It's a great way to keep your game sharp and tournament ready without having to travel."
Tom Christensen, Coral Springs
"...To have these one-day, weekend events is just great...And I can't say enough about the venues: some top-rated courses that normally wouldn't be available to me."
Doug Phillips, Pembroke Pines
"The SFLAGT has been an excellent tour for the locals. This is just what I have been looking for..Being able to play the best courses in South Florida against great friendly competition on weekends...I look forward to playing the SFLAGT every month."
Justin Onorati, Davie
"Playing in organized events against players of the same caliber is what golf is all about. I have practiced and played with friends for years, and playing against my level of competitors brings out the best (and worst) of my game, and this is the reason I play with the South Florida Am Tour"
Todd Williams, Southwest Ranches
