Bryans Records 17 Pars on way to 73 and the Win; Briggs, Bobrow Win for First Time on SF Am Tour

Saturday, October 15th
Plantation Preserve Golf Club

The SF Am Tour hosted 27 players in it's first ever event held at Plantation Preserve Golf Club on Saturday.

Players were forced to deal with some iclement weather and challenging conditions, despite the 8:16 am start.

In the Championship Division, Rob Bryans carded 17 pars on the way to a superb round of 73, earning the victory by three strokes over Matt Renz.

In the Players Division, Tommy Briggs earned his first SF Am Tour victory with a round of 76; Briggs was three shots clear of John Accornero, who took 2nd place.

In the Eagle Division, Evan Bobrow wrote another success story earning his first SF Am Tour victory, as well as firing his career low tournament round. Bobrow has been involved with our Tour all year, and made significant improvement that came to bear in his Plantation Preserve Classic victory!

The Tour has just one event remaining before our Tour Championship, which will be held on November 12th! The top 10 players in the Golf Pride Cup Standings within each division will earn an invitation.

Renz, Cepurnieks and Sabol Earn Victories at Seagate!

The South Florida Amateur Golf Tour hosted at Seagate Country Club for the first time in Tour history, and the 6,600 yard layout proved to challenge the field of 30 who competed on Saturday.

In the Championship Division, Matt Renz played a steady round despite playing the Par 5's in +3; Renz made 3 birdies and carded a round of 75 to capture the win.

In the Players Division, Tony Cepurnieks birdied three of the first five holes to build some early momentum, before holding on for a round of 78. Cepurnieks would edge Derek Fogal and Tom Lanahan, who both finished in a tie for 2nd.

In the Eagle Division, Steve Sabol captured his 3rd SF Am Tour victory after making a nice up on down on 18; Sabol holed an 8 foot par putt to avoid falling into a 3 way playoff, and earned the one shot victory!

Two events remain before the Tour Championship in November; next up is the Plantation Classic at Plantation Preserve Golf Club, on October 15th!

Gary Onorati, Shawn Wildman, Steve Sabol all Earn Victories at Broken Sound

A 33 player field enjoyed a great day of golf at Broken Sound Country Club and the 'Club' Course.

In the Championship Division, a tightly contested outing had Justin Onorati and Nick Fernandez just a couple over par coming down the stretch, but Gary Onorati, with three closing pars came out on top with a round of 77. Justin Onorati and Peter Russin would share 2nd place.

In the Players Division, Shawn Wildman has asserted himself as the hottest player on our Tour, and certainly among the most imporoved over the last 12 months. Wildman, who has played on the Tour for a couple of years without a win, has now notched three victories this season! His score of 77 held off Gene Johnson, who finished runner up.

In the Eagle Division, Steve Sabol won, his second victory on the Tour. Sabol now surges ahead in the Golf Pride Cup standings on the efforts of the two wins, and several Top 5 finishes this season.

Our next event is The Seagate Shootout at The Segate Country Club in Delray Beach, on September 17th!

Thank you to our players who competed at Broken Sound CC!

Portal, Fernandez and Rosenberg Win at Trump National Doral!

The Trump National Doral Shootout - Results

A field of 39 players competed in the 6th event of the 2016 SF Am Tour season; Trump National Doral was in great condition, and the Tour hosted on the Red Tiger course for the first time.

In the Championship Division, Jordan Portal carded 6 birdies and an impressive Stableford total of 42 points to edge Michael Becker and Javier Portal, who finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively. This is the first win for Portal in what was his first SF Am Tour event.

In the Players Division, Armando Fernandez got back in the winners circle, edging Tour regular Sean Kund by just one point. Fernandez, who previously won the February 2015 Miami Shores Classic, and the 2014 Tour Championship, wins in his first 2016 start.

Sean Kund played steady all day, and just missed a birdie chance on 18 which would have given him the win; Kund and Tom Lanahan both tied for 2nd.

In the Eagle Division, Merrick Rosenberg made two birdies and an eagle to win for the first time, after joining the SF Am Tour in January of this season; Rosenberg carded the highest point total for the Eagle Division in any Stableford format event and now moves up to 2nd in the 2016 Golf Pride Cup Standings.

The Tour breaks for 5 weekends before returning to action on July 30th at the private Lago Mar Country Club in Plantation.

The Fort Lauderdale Classic Hosts 51 Player Field; Bryans Wins Championship Division; Wildman, Combs Win for First Time on SF Am Tour

Saturday, May 14th

Fort Lauderdale Country Club

A field of 51 players competed at Fort Lauderdale Country Club, with the Tour hosting it's 5th event of the season at a new host venue.

In the Championship Division, Rob Bryans finished birdie-birdie to sieze control and card a one over par 73 to win comfortably. Donald Wolfe III, the Grande Oaks Invitational winner, carded 77 for second place.

In the Players Division, Shawn Wildman notched his first ever SF Am Tour victory, after having previously recorded two runner ups. Wildman played a fantastic round, and admittedly gave up a few shots on the way in, but still held on. FLCC member Gary Foster finished alone in 2nd place.

In the Eagle Division, Rick Combs was steady all day, and edged Donald Westbrook and Merrick Rosenberg, who were waiting patiently in the event of a playoff at 80. Combs earns his first win on the SF Am Tour, and Westbrook and Rosenberg both finished T2.

In the Golf Pride Cup Standings, Rob Bryans will take over the top spot in the Championship Division; Chris York will remain atop a very diverse Players Division, and Jason Haraputczyk and Steve Sabol will be tied at the top in the Eagle Division.

The Top 10 players in each division earn a spot in the November TOUR Championship.

Thank you to all players for supporting the Tour.

Next up is Trump National Doral (Red) on Saturday, June 18th.

Field of Forty Three Players Battles Wind at Crandon Park; Krispin Wins Champ Division, Knapp Claims Players Division; Rabbito Edges Lalla in Playoff to Take Eagle Division

Krispin, Knapp, Rabbito Winners at Crandon Park

Saturday, March 19th

Crandon Park, Key Biscayne

A field of 43 players tackled the ever difficult and windy Crandon Park Golf Club in the 3rd event of the 2016 SFLAGT season; and it was a day of first time winners!

In the Champ Division, Fred Krispin won in his first ever Tour start! Krispin would play the final 7 holes in 2 under to close strong for the victory.

In the Players Division, Chris Knapp, playing in his second event, made two late birdies of his own, capturing 14 of his 34 points in the last six holes. Knapp would edge first time player Nick LaRocca by 3 points. Todd Weidert, also playing in his first event, finished alone in 3rd.

In the Eagle Division, the Stableford format proved to bring about a wide open ending; Jarred Rabbito, who previously had a runner up and 3rd place finish on the Tour in '15 posted 23 points; with 4 points at stake for a birdie, a total of NINE different players could have won outright or forced a playoff with an 18th hole birdie. Joel Lalla would par the last, and he and Rabbito would head to the Par 5 first for a sudden death playoff; Rabbito would make a conservative bogey to edge Lalla for the victory.

We thank the players for being a part of our 3rd event this year, and look forward to a great season ahead.

Our next event is Saturday, April 16th at Grande Oaks Golf Club.

SF Am Tour Hosts Largest Field at Miami Shores Classic; Posey Wins Champ Division; Carroll Takes Players Division; Sabol Claims Eagle Division in First Tour Start

February 20th
Miami Shores Country Club

The SFLAGT hosted its largest field in Tour history at Miami Shores Country Club, with 46 participants competing in the Miami Shores Classic, the second event of the 2016 season.

In the Championship Division, Tom Posey edged Gordon Milloy out to earn his first win of 2016 and 3rd overall victory.

In the Players Division, Jeff Carroll, hailing from Michigan, leveraged a front nine 35 to build a four stroke lead after 9 holes; Carroll would settle for an 80, while posting in the first group. No other player could match or best the 80, and January TPC Eagle Trace Classic runner up Chris York would finish two strokes back, for another solid 2nd place finish.

In the Eagle Division, first time player Steve Sabol used a par par finish and a back nine 38 to come from behind and win in his first start. A bevy of players were in contention, with a whopping 7 players finishing either one or two shots back! Tour first timers Daniel Gonzalez and Kevin Brill shared second with Stepen Botek, and the scorecard playoff from 18 back decided the pro shop credit prizes.

Nicolas Suner won the New Balance Par 3 Challenge, and will receive a free pair of New Balance Golf Shoes for his closest to the hole win on #9.

Our next event is Saturday, March 19th at Crandon Park Golf Club. This will be a stableford event and a 10:00 am start!

Season Opener Brings About Extremely Difficult Conditions; Bryans, Wasserman and Conners All Survive to Win Respective Divisions

Jan 23rd

TPC Eagle Trace Golf Club

There is something about a Season Opening event at TPC Eagle Trace, in January, that makes for a wild day of golf.
In the face of cool temperatures, a soft course, and most notably winds gusting 35+ mph, the SF AM Tour opened the season on a day so difficult that when all was said and done, the event yielded the highest scoring day in SF Am Tour history. This eclipsed the previous highest scoring day, the 2015 season opener... also in January, also at TPC Eagle Trace!

In the Championship Division, Rob Bryans birdied 17 and holed a lenghty par putt at 18 to eclipse Tom Posey by one shot. Bryans has now won 6 times on the SFLAGT since 2013, three of which have come at TPC Eagle Trace; this leaves him one victory shy of the leader in total victories on the SFLAGT, which belongs to Donald Wolfe III, with 7 overall wins.

In the Players Division, Andy Wasserman, playing in his first event, was able to hang on for a two stroke victory over Tour regular Chris York, who won last years season opener.

Anthony LaViola was in contention playing in the final group, but could not mount a late charge.

In the Eagle Division, Kirk Conners won the season opener for the 2nd straight year. Conners followed the same routine as he did in 2015, where he posted a score he was not entirely thrilled with, only to wait around the clubhouse and realize that his score was good enough! This time Conners returned to the 9th hole for a sudden death playoff, where he edged Jason Haraputczyk on the second playoff hole.

The Golf Pride Cup standings are updated after one event; our next event is Saturday, February 20th at Miami Shores Country Club!

Thank you to all of our players for supporint the Tour.

Conditions: Event was played amidst winds @ 25-35 mph sustained; Course played soft due to overnight rainfall.

What the players are saying..

"The SFLAGT is fun. It's competitive golf, with a bunch of good guys, at a great rotation of courses! If you want to sharpen your game, and see how good you can get, you HAVE to play competitive golf, it's why I make sure I play as many of these as I can. The SFLAGT is the best local tournament practice you can get, in a relaxed friendly environment."

Rob Bryans, Miami Beach

"The tournaments are very well run, the competition is excellent and we are competing on the best courses in the area. It's a great way to keep your game sharp and tournament ready without having to travel."

Tom Christensen, Coral Springs

"...To have these one-day, weekend events is just great...And I can't say enough about the venues: some top-rated courses that normally wouldn't be available to me."

Doug Phillips, Pembroke Pines

"The SFLAGT has been an excellent tour for the locals. This is just what I have been looking for..Being able to play the best courses in South Florida against great friendly competition on weekends...I look forward to playing the SFLAGT every month."

Justin Onorati, Davie

"Playing in organized events against players of the same caliber is what golf is all about. I have practiced and played with friends for years, and playing against my level of competitors brings out the best (and worst) of my game, and this is the reason I play with the South Florida Am Tour"

Todd Williams, Southwest Ranches
